NOTE - The pictures contain images of Rhino dehorning, an active conservation strategy used to protect rhinoceros populations from illegal poaching. During the procedure, the rhino is safely sedated and its horn is carefully trimmed close to the base. Removing the horn significantly reduces the incentive for poachers to target the animal. The process is painless for the rhino, as the horn is made of keratin - the same material found in human hair and nails.
